Urban Best Practices Area
Barcelona is going to present two projects in Shanghai to demonstrate its resolute commitment to regenerating its urban fabric and making itself a more liveable city: the transformation of the Ciutat Vella and 22@.
Expo Xangai 2010
From 1 May to 31 October, the ancient city of Shanghai will be showing its glamorous side as it plays host to the 2010 Shanghai Expo. A platform for cultural, economic and scientific interaction, where over two hundred nations and international bodies, and more than fifty cities, will be exchanging ideas, innovations and thoughts on a theme of global interest: the sustainable development of cities.

The Barcelona pavilion
Barcelona is going to have its own space at the Shanghai Expo, where for the first time in the history of these international exhibitions, cities will have the opportunity to take part independently from their countries.
Thanks to a magic pavilion, designed by Dani Freixes and located in the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA), in the Liveable Cities area, Barcelona now has a platform in Shanghai to show the whole world its behind-the-scenes work spirit that continually offers improvements in the quality of life of its citizens
